Forms of The Verb

Verbs can have different forms depending on the tense, aspect, mood, and voice. Here are the main forms of verbs:

Simple Present:
This form is used to describe actions that are happening in the present or habitual actions. For example: I walk, he eats, they play.

Simple Past:
This form is used to describe completed actions that happened in the past. For regular verbs, the simple past form is usually formed by adding “-ed” to the base form. For example: I walked, he ate, they played.

Simple Future:
This form is used to express actions that will happen in the future. For regular verbs, the simple future form is created by adding “will” before the base form of the verb. For example: I will walk, he will eat, they will play.

Present Continuous:
This form is used to describe actions that are happening at the present moment or ongoing actions. It is formed by using a conjugated form of the verb “to be” (am, is, are) followed by the present participle (-ing form) of the main verb. For example: I am walking, he is eating, they are playing.

Past Continuous:
This form is used to describe actions that were in progress in the past. It is formed by using a conjugated form of the verb “to be” (was, were) followed by the present participle (-ing form) of the main verb. For example: I was walking, he was eating, they were playing.

Look at the sentences.  Which words tell us about actions?  These words are called verbs.
Do” , “doing“, “done” , “did” are verbs.  They are different forms of the same verb.  Verbs are words that show action.  The four forms of the verb show the different types of action.
